Are you a Throner? Did you gorge yourself on the box-sets? Want to experience life as a Night’s Watch? If you said yes to any of these then we recommend you download the latest VR app inspired by Game of Thrones – ‘Castle Black’.
Although not created by HBO (US producers of the TV series) this app has been lovingly created by a super fan of the series, Ryan Cassidy. In it you get to take a virtual reality tour around the atmospheric outpost that is Castle Black or spend some touring around the Wall, there to stop the white-walkers. If you do however suffer from a little vertigo you may want to postpone the stomach churning trip up Wall’s creaking lift.
Games of Thrones virtual reality
Castle Black has been made with loving care and detail as you’ll see by the texture and graphics of the video. There are also nice touches to the game and a few spoilers (so make sure you’re up-to-date with the latest episodes). The soundtrack is also atmospheric and certainly helps convey a sense of oncoming doom. The VR app is available on Oculus Rift and can be downloaded from WeAreVR or alternatively check out the trailer below.
Here’s hoping that the bosses at HBO put some cash into VR and create a host of virtual reality game of thrones landscapes.
