If you told us we would be impressed with a virtual reality game that has you lost, driving a car out in the middle of the woods we would tell you to go do one. However Lost Route is a bit different to the normal VR driving games we’ve seen.
In essence Lost Route is an atmospheric virtual reality thriller game and although still being developed you really to get a feel of what can be anticipated. The game takes place in and around your car which has been realistically created. You can interact with pretty much all of the cars features from the radio and the lights through to the electric windows. If you’ve yet to get a drivers license then this is the next best thing to actually driving.
The story from what we understand is that wildfires have caused the residents of a small town to evacuate the area. You thought you would be the smart ass and take a closed road … more fool you. As you drive your car along a procedurally generated road it gets creepier and creepier every mile you drive.
Various random events occur during your ‘road trip’ and the woods surrounding the road are as sinister as they seem. Expect all sort of nasties (especially skinwalkers) to be lurking in those woods! Imbanova Entertainment Inc, the developers of Lost Route, have done remarkably well in making you feel almost suffocated by the surrounding forests. The constricting feeling you get when you’re driving helps to add to the games uneasiness.
If you’re looking for something a bit different when it comes to virtual reality gaming and fancy a good scare then Lost Route is a good bet.
