Nightstar VR – review

nightIf you enjoy old-skool, retro shoot em ups then Nightstar, for the HTC Vive, is for you.

Developed by Solidmesh, Nightstar puts you in the pilot seat of a streamlined fighter. Randomly the plot starts you off in 1983 where, due to your gaming skills, you’ve been chosen from million of gamers to pilot the Nightstar ship and defeat the Drone Coalition.

Retro VR space shoot-em-up

Ok the story line won’t line won’t win any oscars but this is still a fun and frantic virtual reality game set in space. You have to survive wave after wave of enemies who get gradually more tricky. On top of that you’ll need to navigate your ship past all the space debris that’s flying past … oh yeah and watch out for those bounty hunters! Thankfully though there are multiple powerups and upgrades that will increase the power and attack capabilities of the Nightstar.

Graphics-wise the game is pretty impressive. It’s not as pretty or polished as the EVE games but its still very playable (and a 1/3 of the price!). The VR mechanics are also well taken care off so there should be minimal feelings of nausea when you’re flying through space.

If you’re looking for a fun and immersive VR game you can just pick up and play then you can’t go wrong with Nightstar.
