Serious Sam VR – review

serious sam vrSerious Sam VR: The Last Hope is one of the years most hotly anticipated virtual reality game releases this year.

If you’re a fan of FPS titles or simply enjoyed playing the series of Serious Sam games that first came out 15 years ago then this should be on your list of must haves.

Of course previous Serious Sam games have not been immersive, relying on a computer screen, now however with the advent of virtual reality the developers over at Croteam VR have made it possible to play AS Sam!

Serious Sam in Virtual Reality

So the premise of this game, like many others, is that you’re part of a resistance group to defend Earth against a bunch of marauding enemies. The enemies this time round are Mental (literally and by their names sake). However once you’ve saved one planet its your mission to get out there and kick the butts of Mental’s nasties on each and every planet.

serious samThankfully guns still play a LARGE role in Sam’s missions. you are still able to dual-wield an increasingly interesting variety of weapons and upgrade your burgeoning arsenal as you progress in the game. Each mission starts from your battle cruiser ‘Saratoga’ from where you’ll get to choose the weapon of choice. Do you go for some heavy mechanics for the enormous enemies or light weight shooters for those quick pesky aliens?

Violence is key here; shooting, blasting and blowing things up in dramatic style is the name of the game. If that’s not your thing then Serious Sam is not for you but we’ve got a feeling there are many, many people who are dribbling at the mouth to strap on the shooters and blast away.

Available for both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Minimum system requirements: OS: Windows 7 64bit / Processor: Intel Core i5 – 4590 equivalent / Memory: 6 GB RAM / Graphics: AMD R9 290 or NVIDIA GTX 970
