Top games for Oculus Rift 2016

This year is going to be a momentous year for virtual reality games on the Oculus Rift; which went on public sale in the US in January. An increasing number of developers are jumping on the opportunity to create stunning fully immersive games that will leave you speechless. We’ve picked out five games below that we believe are going to be must-buys for lucky owners of the Oculus Rift in 2016. Along with our spiel on the games we’ve also provided links to Youtube teaser videos that developers have created.

Edge of nowhere

(Insomniac games)
edge of nowhereThis looks like it’s going to be a real winner judging by the response from the lucky few that have played the demos at Oculus Connect. If you’ve played the various Unchartered games you’ll have a feel of what the genre of Edge of Nowhere would be like. Basically you’ve been tasked to find a missing Antarctic team lost in the mountains … so expect gut-churning views mixed with action and adventure. Check out the Edge of Nowhere trailer

Eagle flight

eagle_flightUbisoft are legends when it comes to gaming and we were super buzzed when we found out they were developing games for the Oculus Rift. The premise of Eagle flight is to explore the apocalyptic city of Paris whilst attacking other eagles and admiring the views. The Oculus was built for this type of game so we’re looking forward to whizzing around the legs of the Eiffel Tower in 3D. Check out the stunning Eagle flight demo on Youtube

Lucky’s Tale

luckysIf you’ve ever wanted a virtual reality experience of Mario then Lucky’s Tale is looking like the game for you. The hero of the game is little fox guy called (surprisingly) Lucky who basically likes stomping bad guys on the head. The graphics are colourful and bright without being too sickengly Disney-esque. In addition Oculus Rift’s positional tracking means you can get even closer to your cheeky foxy pal. Check out the Lucky’s Tale VR trailer

The Climb

The-ClimbIf you suffer from vertigo you might want to give The Climb a miss however if acting out a Mission Impossible scene is your thing then check this out. It’s still being developed but judging by the insanely cool trailer video this is going to push all the right, ‘rocky’ buttons. Check out a sneak peak of The Climb

Bullet Train

bulletOk so you’ve seen a bunch of war and sci-fi movies but never actually experienced what it might b like to go on a baddy-shooting-spree. Well help (and more like guns) are at hand with the development of ‘Bullet Train’. The team at Epic Games will make sure your hand movements mimic those in the world of Bullet Train for a real roller-coaster sci-fi epic. View the Bullet Train trailer here
