V ARRR – review

v arrr pirate gameShiver me timbers it was only matter of time before someone came up with a pun for VR and it takes the form of V ARRR – the latest virtual reality pirate game by Blackjard Softworks.

Premise of V ARRR is pretty simple – defend your ship and fight off those dastardly pirates. Made exclusively for the owners of the HTC VIVE you must sail out and hunt down  the biggest ship of all full of booty however life on the seven seas isn’t that simple as you constantly need to defend your ship against pirates.

As you’ll soon find out pirates are a cunning bunch and they’ll board your vessel by all means necessary. As such you’ll need to build blockades and positions objects to make their life harder. Thankfully you armed with dual wielding pistols so you can put a bullet between the eyes of those sea dogs.

v arrr shooterOnce you finished a mission you start a new day and with each new day the game does get progressively harder. The good news however is that at the end of each battle you’re rewarded with coins which can be used to gradually upgrade your weaponry to match the pirates difficulty level. You can also upgrade other game mechanics from your actual ship through to maximum health and reaction times.

Overall V ARRR is a fun game to pick up and play. Ok the graphics aren’t going to blow you away but the game mechanic is refreshing and its worth a try.

Can you beat the pirates, unlock hard mode and join the infamous 100 Pirate War. Download V ARRR now from STEAM
